Federalsburg, MD - The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company had the pleasure of hosting representatives from the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) at its Federalsburg headquarters on June 27, 2019.

The ASLRRA ensures that short line and regional railroads have a voice in Washington, D.C. by advocating on our behalf with regard to many important issues, including the Short Line Railroad Track Maintenance Tax Credit, preventing legislation to permit longer and heavier trucks, and promoting balanced, sensible regulation.

ASLRRA President Chuck Baker and several of his colleagues made the trip from Washington, D.C. last week in order to see first-hand the impact their work has on small businesses like MDDE. Mr. Baker and his team met with MDDE President Cathrin Banks, Vice President of Finance John Paredes, General Manager Sam Pate, Bookeeper Brandy Cathcart and Supervisor of Locomotive Engineers Randy Rash, in addition to several other MDDE team members. They also had the opportunity to view the facilities of several of MDDE’s largest customers, and to discuss new projects and growth opportunities in the region.

MDDE was honored to be the first short line “field trip” for Mr. Baker and his new team.

The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company is a short line railroad with a network of approximately 120 miles, and has served freight customers on the Delmarva Peninsula for over 40 years.
