  • Edward Banks, Jr.

    CHAIRMAN

    Having been recruited in 1978 by the original MDDE investors, Chairman Edward G. Banks, Jr., has served MDDE for over 40 years. Throughout his legal career, Mr. Banks represented a number of business clients across Delmarva, including Perdue Farms, the Delmarva Poultry Industry, Delmarva Power, The Virginia and Maryland Railroad, Comcast, Choptank Electric Cooperative, and The Town of Berlin.

    Mr. Banks served three terms on the Governor’s Salary Review Commission, and twice as a member of the Transportation Advisory Committee assembled by the Maryland Department of Transportation. He is a past Chairman of the Greater Salisbury Committee, a past Ward Museum Director, and a past Member of the Delmarva Poultry Industry Board of Directors for 25 years, having served 5 years on its Executive Board.

  • Cathrin Banks

    PRESIDENT & GENERAL COUNSEL

    Cathrin Banks has served as President and General Counsel of The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company since 2019. Prior to being named President, Ms. Banks served as Vice President and General Counsel.

    After graduating from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, Ms. Banks began her legal career clerking for the Hon. Albert J. Matricciani, Jr. of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, before spending a number of years at the Baltimore law firm of Bekman, Marder & Adkins, LLC, where she gained considerable experience trying complex civil cases.

    Ms. Banks currently serves on the Board of Directors of the B&O Railroad Museum and the Board of Directors of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association. She is a member of the League of Railway Women and the American Association of Railroad Superintendents, and was named to Progressive Railroading’s Rising Stars of 2019. In addition to her leadership at MDDE, Ms. Banks is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Chesapeake and Delaware, LLC, which owns and operates five railroads across approximately 250 miles in the State of New Jersey.

  • John Paredes

    EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

    Executive Vice President John Paredes manages MDDE’s finances, as he has since first joining the company in 1980. Since hiring on with MDDE, Mr. Paredes has been instrumental in the company’s evolution from pre-Staggers railroading to the safe and efficient system it is today.

    Mr. Parades served as President of MDDE from 1989 to 2003, and from 2017 to 2019. He has also served on the Salisbury University Perdue School of Business Advisory Council and is a member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials.

  • Andrew Rementer

    GENERAL MANAGER

    As General Manager, Andrew Rementer oversees operations, mechanical and maintenance of way at MDDE. He began his railroad career with Norfolk Southern in 2004, and joined MDDE in 2017. Previously having served as Chief Mechanical Officer, Andrew was promoted to General Manager in 2021.

  • Cory Brinkley

    CHIEF MECHANICAL OFFICER

    Cody Brinkley oversees all locomotive and railcar maintenance. Cody has been with MDDE since 2018, and previously held the positions of conductor, engineer and track inspector.

  • Brandy Cathcart

    ACCOUNTING MANAGER

    Brandy Cathcart handles most billing matters and assists EVP Paredes with accounting. She has been with MDDE since 2016.

  • Randall Rash

    SUPERVISOR OF LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEERS

    Randall (Randy) Rash is one of MDDE’s longest serving employees with over 20 years of experience. Randy oversees the company’s conductors and engineers, and assists the General Manager with training and testing, as well as customer service and operations planning.
