MDDE Promotes Banks to President
Federalsburg, MD - The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company (MDDE) is pleased to announced that Cathrin S. Banks has been promoted to President of the company as of January 1, 2019.
Ms. Banks previously served as MDDE’s Assistant General Counsel, and more recently as Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to joining MDDE, Ms. Banks spent several years at the prominent Baltimore trial law firm of Bekman, Marder & Adkins, LLC. She has also worked for Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr., Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, and the Hon. Albert J. Matricciani, Jr. of the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
Ms. Banks was born in Stuttgart, Germany and raised in Salisbury, Maryland, where she graduated from James M. Bennett High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland College Park, and a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland.
At 33, Ms. Banks is one of the youngest female CEO’s in the railroad industry.
The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company is a short line railroad with a network of approximately 120 miles, and has served freight customers on the Delmarva Peninsula for over 40 years.
